Career highlights

Roger Alan Kerr (born 18 December 1960) is a former Australian rules football player and coach. He played 85 games with East Fremantle in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and Port Adelaide in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), including the 1985 premiership, and later coach Claremont.

Career

Kerr was born in Calcutta to an English metallurgist and his Indian wife, and moved to Perth at age seven, where he played for the East Fremantle juniors.[1] He made his senior WAFL debut in 1981, and played in the Sharks' 1985 premiership victory. In 1988, he moved to Port Adelaide in the SANFL, where he spent one season as player and football manager, playing in the club's premiership victory over Glenelg. He returned to East Fremantle for the 1989 season, and retired at the end of the season.

Kerr coached the South Fremantle colts team for three years from 2002 to 2004, which included two premierships, before being appointed coach of Claremont for the 2008 season. He was sacked after round six of the 2009 season after Claremont lost their first five games.[2]

Family

His son, Daniel Kerr, plays football for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL), and his daughter, Samantha Kerr, plays soccer for Perth Glory in the W-League.[3]
